River City Grill, Yuma, Arizona

River City Grill interior, from TripAdvisor
I've been traveling with my business partner, Jim, to Yuma since 2006, and we've been dining here since practically our first visit. River City Grill is one of Yuma's finest restaurants (and it happens to be within walking distance of the Best Western Coronado Motel, which provides our accommodations. How convenient!)

Experience
This is one of the hippest places in Yuma that doesn't try to be too hip. In addition to the colorful and eclectic inside dining room, there's a lovely patio for outdoor dining in winter months.

Cuisine
There is a great selection of fish and shellfish on the menu, as well as a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. The portions are very generous--frequently I'd be just fine with an appetizer as an entree. I wouldn't say that they stick to a particular cuisine here; I think the primary motivator is that everything on the menu is something that Executive Chef and co-owner Nan Bain would eat herself. Lucky for us, Nan has exceptional taste. :-)

Some of my faves:

Spinach Salad
fresh spinach w/gorgonzola, walnuts & cranberries w/ a raspberry vinaigrette
(this is actually Jim's favorite)

ROASTED TOMATO & RED PEPPER BISQUE
with gorgonzola crouton

Ahi Tuna Starter

Curried Mussels in Thai Broth

VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS
w/ mint, mango, rice noodles, peanuts & spicy sauce

TEQUILA SNAPPER
red snapper, rice, black beans, fresh salsa & roasted chile corn sauce

Booze
This is one of the better stocked restaurant bars in town, and generally there are servers who know how to mix most basic and classic cocktails.

Summary
Oasis of upscale dining for the "not yet ready for sunset dinners" demographic.
