Tacos Mi Rancho (aka Tacos Mi Ranchito), Yuma, Arizona

It's not a trip to Yuma for GoalBusters without a meal at Tacos Mi Rancho. Located right next to our home away from home, the Best Western Coronado, Tacos Mi Rancho has very tasty tacos and a good selection of Mexican beers. We like the "little Mexico" feeling of this place, and the fact that we can gorge ourselves on tacos for almost no money. The first time we went here, we ordered one of every taco on the menu. Our server thought us a little strange, which we are.

The small, L-shaped dining room is decorated with Mexican kitsch typical of a family run restaurant. Find a seat and one of the very prompt servers will bring you water, chips and salsa almost immediately. The service is usually very quick and attentive enough. The menu has a collection of the usual combo platters, but we tend to order a la carte. There is a very inexpensive senior menu, though, for the hordes of winter visitors who come to Yuma between November and March every year, and at lunch time, anyone can order from the senior menu.

It's called "Tacos" Mi Rancho for a reason. Get a taco. Get a few. The majority of their tacos are "street" style, served simply with the meat of your choice, onions, shredded cabbage and cilantro. They are best on the corn tortillas, which are two tortillas to each taco. They often pile so much filling onto the taco that you can split it between the two tortillas. Each taco costs under two dollars!
Carnitas Taco and Lengua Taco
My favorite fillings are carnitas (tender, roasted pork), lengua (beef tongue), chicharron (stewed pork rind), and asada (seasoned stewed beef). Jim (my usual travel companion to Yuma) also likes the chorizo (pork sausage) and al pastor (roasted beef).

We also like the machaca burrito smothered in green chile sauce, the chile relleno, the folded or rolled beef tacos, and the strawberry churros, which are freshly made on site and served warm.

Mexican beer is the way to go. They have a pretty good selection of bottled beers, including Bohemia, which is my favorite. Sometimes they have Bohemia Amber. In addition to Bohemia and some other Mexican labels, they have the usual suspects of Tecate, Dos Equis and Corona.

Great place for real tacos for very little money. I don't feel like I'm back in Yuma until I eat here!
